We HAVE to talk about the Sims 4 x Coach partnership — and why it works

Coach dropped a digital fashion collection inside The Sims 4. Actual Coach pieces that players can use to style their Sims within the native gaming environment.

Through this collaboration, Coach is connecting with young audiences on a personal level. The Sims isn’t just a game; it’s a lifestyle simulator, making it a very smart distribution channel for fashion, which is so closely tied to identity.

By partnering with the Sims, Coach may be the first major fashion house to acknowledge the cultural levity of video games and meet Gen Z in a place they already spend time, rather than advertising to them.

It also works because of instead of runway-first storytelling, this is fashion as interaction. With nine different items and 65 colourway variations, players can naturally integrate Coach into their gameplay. Instead of consuming a campaign, they’re able to co-create with the brand.

At a time when many established luxury brands are still trying to figure out how to connect with Gen Z, Coach appears to be one of the few getting it right. That focus on younger audiences is already paying off, with Vogue Business’s Madeleine Schulz describing Gen Z as the brand’s “North Star.”
